Candle Care

Learn how to get the most from your CandleLux candle with proper candle care and safety tips. Following these simple guidelines will help you enjoy a cleaner burn, maximize fragrance, and extend the life of your candle.

First Burn Matters

The first burn is the most important. Allow the melted wax to reach the edges of the vessel before extinguishing the flame. This helps prevent tunneling and promotes an even burn throughout the life of your candle.

Trim Your Wick

Before each burn, trim the wick to approximately ¼ inch. A properly trimmed wick helps minimize soot, reduces flickering, and creates a cleaner, more consistent flame.

Burn Time

For best results, burn your candle for 2 to 4 hours at a time. Avoid burning your candle for more than four hours, as excessive heat can affect the vessel and fragrance performance.

Burn on a Stable Surface

Always place your candle on a flat, heat resistant surface away from drafts, fans, vents, curtains, and anything flammable.

Never Leave a Burning Candle Unattended

Always extinguish your candle before leaving the room or going to sleep.

Keep burning candles away from children and pets.

Stop Burning at ½ Inch

Discontinue use when approximately ½ inch of wax remains at the bottom of the vessel. Continuing to burn beyond this point may cause the container to overheat.

Store Your Candle Properly

Store candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and excessive heat to help preserve fragrance and prevent discoloration.

Reuse Your Vessel

Once your candle has completely cooled and only about ½ inch of wax remains, place the vessel in the freezer for several hours. The remaining wax can usually be removed easily with a butter knife or spoon.

Wash the vessel with warm, soapy water before reusing it as a planter, storage container, or decorative piece.

Candle Safety

  • Burn within sight.
  • Keep away from children and pets.
  • Keep away from flammable materials.
  • Trim the wick before each burn.
  • Burn on a heat resistant surface.
  • Never move a burning candle.
  • Never extinguish with water.
  • Allow the candle to cool completely before relighting.

FAQ

Why is my candle tunneling?

Tunneling occurs when the wax doesn't melt completely across the surface during the first few burns. Allow the melt pool to reach the edges of the vessel before extinguishing the flame.

Why is my flame too high?

A flame that is too high usually indicates the wick needs trimming. Extinguish the candle, allow it to cool completely, trim the wick to ¼ inch, and relight.

Why does my candle have tiny imperfections?

Soy wax is a natural product. Slight frosting, texture variations, or color differences are normal characteristics and do not affect the quality or performance of your candle.

Why does my candle look wet around the glass?

This is called wet spots and is a natural occurrence with soy wax as it expands and contracts with temperature changes. It does not affect the quality or performance of your candle.
